Commonwealth of Learning

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government in 1987 to promote the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources, and technologies.

Open Education Resource universitas

Following an international open meeting with funding support from UNESCO, the Open Education Resource universitas (OERu) was established in 2011 to facilitate access to open online courses for students around the world. A growing international network of socially motivated institutions contributes to the creation of OERu courses and provides affordable opportunities for learners to gain academic credit towards recognised qualifications. The OERu is coordinated by the OER Foundation, a non-profit organization headquartered in New Zealand.

UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education

The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) was established as an integral part of UNESCO by the General Conference of UNESCO at its 29th session (November 1997) and is located in Moscow, Russian Federation. IITE is the only UNESCO category 1 Institute that holds a global mandate for ICT in education.

International Council for Open and Distance Education

The International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) is the leading global membership organisation bringing accessible, quality education to all through online, open, and distance learning. ICDE is a not-for-profit, Non Governmental Organisation registered in Norway. The organisation is in a consultative partnership with UNESCO and shares UNESCO’s key value – the universal right to education for all.
